Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is American Canadian singer and songwriter. Her catalog includes more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk-rock and alternative rock but also has influences from punk funk hiphop and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as a feminist icon and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as the creator in DIY music. She was one of the first musicians to create their own labels in 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd September 1970 in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who was introduced to Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian heritage, and her mother hails from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and performed the song 32 Flavors. This song appears on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. This track appears in the soundtrack to the Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized for hosting a workshop in Louisiana at an old plantation for slaves. However, many (including this piece) weren't able to detect any regret.
