Eugene Klementieff, her grandfather, was an artist. Pom's parents selected the name due to the similarity of pronunciation with the Korean word for "spring" also known as "tiger". Klementieff spent one year in Canada before her family started to travel frequently due to her father's job. Prior to settling in France she and her family lived in Japan as well as Ivory Coast.
